Pricing FAQ

Our goal is to price in a fair and transparent manner, and one that is simple to choose, buy and renew. We appreciate your business and welcome feedback and questions so we can better serve you.

Which license do I need?

Licenses for the Ad hoc Workflows Plugin are licensed according to your license of Confluence.

Like with Confluence, your license for the plugin entitles you to use plus free upgrades and support for a year. After that you are entitled to perpetual use of the last upgrade. If you require support after your expiry date you must purchase a new license.

The Plugin license must match the Confluence License: i.e. If you have a 500 Users license of Confluence, you need the 500 Users license of the plugin.

What is the difference between a Commercial license and a Professional license?

Professional licenses are identical to Commercial except they bundle 4 hours of Professional Onramp Support which can be use to demonstrate functionality and usage scenarios, train power-users and end-users, establish good development methods or outline a solution.

Why you don't take Purchase Orders?

We price our products to be sold under an End Users License Agreement, like all vendors in the Atlassian Community. This is how we can provide an Enterprise-level product at an affordable price.

Purchase Orders come with additional Terms and Conditions which would increase our liability exposure and have to be reviewed and negotiated. Therefore accepting them would be subject to surcharge fees (to offset the insurance premiums increase) and legal fees as we do not have a dedicated legal department.

In all the cases clients have found that such additonal charges are higher than the actual license fee and the process too long, opting for just placing their order and including their PO# so it appears in the invoice we issue.

If you have a Purchase Order with no additional Terms and Conditions, then you should not have any problem just filling up the Order form.

I have a license of the Approvals Workflow Plugin, am I entitled to an upgrade to Ad hoc Workflows?

The Ad Hoc Workflows Plugin version 3.0 is a free upgrade for clients with a current Maintenance license. If your maintenance period has expired you can renew your license to be entitled to the upgrade.

How do I get a free license?

Sites that qualify for Atlassian's Community licenses are also eligible for a free plugin license. Please contact us to request a license. Community licenses are eligible as per Atlassian's definitions.

If you need more time for a Commercial or Academic license, contact us and we will issue you an extension of your trial.

If only a few of my Confluence users would use the plugin, why do I pay for a license for all of them?

The short answer is that we follow Atlassian's structure for Confluence pricing. Consider also that a workflow capability stabilizes processes and create dependability in the organization. By strategically encouraging everyone to contribute to their group's process structure you help make work handoff more reliable and visible. Removing hesitation about who can use the plugin is a smart decision, enabling all workers contribute to the more agile enterprise.

Do I need an additional license for my test server?

No you don't. Simply email us to get your test environment licenses.

Why do I get a message saying 'The license of the Ad hoc Workflows plugin supports only X workflows'?

  • If you are running a Starter License (free for 10 users) of the plugin, this message is because your license permits only one Space-wide workflow (a workflow which applies the same logic to all pages in a space). For more workflows you need a commercial license.
  • If you have a 25 or 100 user license, it means you have exceeded the number of Space-wide workflows permitted on your license. Limited-workflows licenses were discontinued in March 2010 with the introduction of version 3.0 of the plugin. If you need more workflows, then you need to upgrade to an unlimited workflows license. Please contact sales@comalatech.com for more information.

I bought the Approvals Workflows Plugin last year and it works fine for me. Why should I upgrade?

When you upgrade Confluence, for example for security, performance or functionality reasons, you will want to also keep up-to-date with the Plugin. The Plugin takes advantage of core facilities in Confluence, and when these facilities are improved we take efforts to make the best of the improvements. We don't support editions of Confluence paired with the Plugin where the Plugin is more than 12 months different in age than Confluence. To ensure effective support, keep up with your renewals and use recent production-ready versions of each software.

If you haven't done so yet, try Ad hoc mode! Unlike the 2007-2009 editions - which need IT support - Ad hoc is immediately ready-to-use by anyone in your organization.

What is the exchange policy?

We give you 30 days to try the plugin so you make sure it is what you want, therefore we do not offer any refund. If you order the wrong license size, we will credit the amount already paid towards the right size license or maintenance renewal if the request is made within 30 days of the order, otherwise any changes will be handled as product upgrades and priced accordingly.
